Mr. Tillis:
You are ruining the lives of federal worker families who are of your constituents. These federal employees have worked long and hard to deliver necessary services. Suddenly, these public servants are fired without cause or having their salaries slashed. My daughter is a physician assistant at the Butner federal corrections facility and she was advised last week that her annual salary will be immediately cut by almost $14,000 and a similar cut is likely to come soon. This is devastating to her family.
The prison medical facility is understaffed by 25% and the custodial officers are equally understaffed. They have all been working their tails off for years to maintain the health and safety of inmates and staff.
My daughter’s family depends on her income. She is a major in the National Guard. Many of the prison’s staff are veterans and/or former law enforcement. Her husband is a disabled veteran who served two tours as a Marine in Iraq. (by the way, he was once a Trump supporter – not anymore). Their son is ten years old. Are these the kind of families your base wants destroyed? Do you think they are part of the mythical “deep state?”
Meanwhile, the “president” you blindly follow plays golf daily and spends millions of public dollars flying back and forth to his palace in Florida. Trump has never known a moment of sacrifice. He is a draft dodger. And his billionaire controller, the spawn of apartheid, laughs over slashing entire agencies without any understanding of their functions or the benefits they deliver to the American people. This is sick.
You are hurting your own people and you know it. Your constituents losing their livelihoods know you are not fighting for them.
You, also, know Trump is betraying Ukraine and serving the interests of Russia. How can you stand silent when Trump claims Ukraine started the war and calls Zelenski a dictator? The boorish behavior of Trump and Vance on Friday against President Zelensky was an embarrassment to America. It was obviously a planned attack to humiliate Zelensky. They didn’t anticipate that Zelensky would push back. I hope Zelensky doesn’t return until Trump and Vance apologize to him.
It certainly appears as though the reports of Trump being groomed as an asset to Russia since the 80s are true (especially because he took millions in “loans” from oligarchs to save his failing casinos). IMO, Putin scripted Trump and Vance for the Zelensky meeting – those unannounced phone calls between Trump and Putin preceding the Zelensky meeting weren’t for nothing.
The best hope for America now is the honest right, like the conservative assistant US attorneys who refused, at their own peril, to dismiss charges against Eric Adams. However it increasingly appears that there is no honest right in Congress – only a bunch of boot licking sycophants protecting their personal interests instead of the interests of this country and the interests of people of their states. I hope you, Senator Tillis, will be an exception.
What is happening is NOT what your constituents voted for.
Please schedule a town hall meeting to meet with your constituents who are being seriously harmed by Trump’s war on federal workers and those who care about defending the free world against Putin.
